Theme of the symposium:

Following the highly successful first international symposium of the SIG held in Greece in 2008 we are pleased to announce that the 2nd International SIG 13 Symposium will be held in Israel at the Achva - Academic College of Education and the Mofet Institute in Tel-Aviv.

SIG 13 addresses questions of moral and democratic education from a scientific perspective with a particular focus on theoretically founded empirical research. Moral and democratic competences are key issues in today’s society. However, moral and democratic education mostly play a minor role in teaching, and even where it is seen as important, it is usually not based on research outcomes. The aim of SIG 13 is to promote research based moral and democratic learning, development, and education, both in school and outside.

Who should attend?

Educational researchers, members of EARLI and of SIG 13; Educators Seniors and students, who are willing to contribute to the increase of knowledge base of the field and to the varying practices of moral and democratic education world wide.

• Proposals submission deadline: 1st February , 2010
• New proposals submission deadline: 28th February , 2010
• Notification of acceptance: 15th March 2010
• Full paper submission deadline: 30th May , 2010
• Early registration deadline: 15th June 2010. afterwards an extra fee of 20 euro
